Hey. Just checked the site this morning and the whole front page had exploded. No navigation, no siderail content, just the middle column and the billboards. AAAAAKKKKK! Turns out its something I’ve seen before, external content I offer, the official news feed from CDProjekt RED and The Witcher, has a bit of bad code in the latest news item somewhere. So it’s broken my site. Should be fixed within the next day or two, once it is I’ll reinstate it.
Updates to the downloads section, just cleanup and some changes. We are planning to offer the Deception mod as a download, I just really need to get cloned. Email us directly with inquiries regarding our various mod and patches that we have available.
W00T!!!!! Just saw this morning, when visiting the official site’s fansite page, TWWW is now a Silver Fansite!!!! So, I just wrote a description for the site to add to their page, getting started on today’s updates to the site. Here it is, haven’t even yet sent it to CDProjekt RED, I’ll do that after we get back from grocery shopping. (Gotta eat)!

So. One more CDProjekt RED recipe added, actually pretty tasty looking, cheese-potato gratin. A flash developer friend, James, offered a basic graphics rotator to shiny up the site, but couldn’t get it working, and not sure what I’m doing wrong, so it looks like the banner rotator will have to wait a bit.
Keep watching though, because he is also working with me on a REALLY SERIOUSLY EXCITING bit of exclusive content for The Witcher Weekly World News, and NO, I’m NOT TELLING what it is. Just that it promises to be really sweet.
Started a game review. right now its on both the index page, and on the downloads page (for the demo). I’ll break out the demo download and the review to their own page, later. Probably either Thursday or this weekend.
Sometimes, maintaining a fansite is BORING. So. After the 5 month hiatus from the site, followed by several weekends of frenzied redesign and overhauling of the site, lets just say that my site documentation was just a teensy bit outdated. Just a bit. Aaaack.
And while I have webalyzer with my webhosting service, its not the friendliest thing to read, when you just want to do a quick check that shows the number of unique visitors to the site. Its not like this is a huge money making site that I need to know all kinds of statistics on, for all the google ads everywhere. I just want to know, hey, I had so many visitors to the site this week that WEREN’T ME. So today, zzzzzzzzz. Open each page. paste in the google code. document that the page exists, after actually visiting the page to verify that, halelujah, it didnt secretly explode from CSS code that somehow secretly decayed overnight when I wasn’t looking.
So, I’m bored. But it needs to be done.
One page added. Adda’s Advice for Shapeshifters (with new billboard art), at http://www.thewitcherworld.com/princess-adda.php
Written from the point of view of a spoiled princess.
Site Concept and Redesign: Supermarket Tabloid Theme. (PSD mock).
CSS and HTML recoded. Initial content planning. Site banner, logo, some billboards and content art (photoshop and fireworks). Tested layout revisions, applied across existing pages.
Contacted REDFlame, request content. Received huge quantity of concept art, etc. Need to add at least some of it to site.
Notified CDProjekt RED of redesign. They are happy.
Remaining codework: fix html hack for content positioning fix. Layout broken upon resize in IE6.
For those who want to see behind the scenes on what goes on with a fansite, drop in for a visit, and I will keep you (sortof) updated. This is basically my developers blog. It is currently not terribly shiny, not much skinned or anything, but hey, I had actually forgotten I had added a blog to the site and while I was doing actual maintenance on the site (how badly are pages broken, how much needs updating, etc… lo and behold, I FOUND THE BLOG!!!! So, my wonderful visitors, if you happen to wonder why someone would be insane enough to build a fansite, or if you wonder about what it’s like behind the scenes, drop on in for a visit.
What you can expect to see in here:
My site maintenance logs. My site “to do list”. Random diary entries. Anything I think is vaguely interesting (to me at least, and maybe my mom), but doesnt quite make it to the rest of the site. Developer’s commentary. Shopping lists. Random ideas for what I want to add to the site. (You get the drift). OH, BTW…. if anybody from CDProjekt RED is reading this, this blog is my concept of “something unique for the fansite that other fansites don’t have”. However, if you are from some other fansite…. just move along now, nothing to see here, nothing to see…..
