I am right now downloading the patches, and will be providing additional mirrors over the next few days (as I get them up).

Installing the Witcher Enhanced Edition American Censorship Fix

So you're one of those who bravely bought The Witcher to support CD Projekt RED, yet, hoped to get a massive amount of blood and boobies in return?

Then you must have been deeply dissappointed when you made your first finishing move with Vesna (if you did it right that is)...

Fear not! You can still enjoy the game how it was intented to be, using the European files kindly provided by LennardF1989 from The Witcher forums. So, let's get to it (note that the following piece of text is written by LennardF1989 himself, so "I" is referring to him).

Step 1- Backup

Before you start doing anything to modify your game, you will have to backup some files. Browse to your "The Witcher/Data" directory (The default location is "C:/Program Files/The Witcher/Data", "C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/The Witcher/Data" for Steam users) and backup the following files first:

• localized.key
• localized00.bif
• cs_sex_*.bik
• Where * is any name
• Note that there are about 15 of them

Now that you've done that, be sure you don't keep your backups in the "The Witcher/Data" directory (not even a subdirectory) as they will interfere with the uncensor patch. If you're sure, move on to step 2.

Step 2 - Retail or Steam?

You reached step 2, congratulations! Before you can start downloading some stuff, you first have to determine what kind of version you have of The Witcher. There is the retail version and the Steam version (other downloaded version are considered retail). In case of a retail version, move to step 2A. In case of a Steam version, move to step 2B.

Step 2A - Retail

So, you're a materialist... Anyhow, you will need to unextracted uncensor files (11mb), which can be found here:

Mirror #2 - FileFactory

After downloading, open the RAR with eather 7-Zip or WinRAR and extract "localized.key" and "localized00.bif" to your "The Witcher/Data" directory.

If above patch fails to uncensore your game, you could try the override method. Simply download the following file (12mb):

Mirror #2 - FileFactory
After downloading, extract the "Override" directory into your "The Witcher/Data" directory. This method will make sure the game "forcefully" loads the uncensored files into memory.

That's all, you are now the owner of a partially uncensored The Witcher game! Partially, I hear you say? That's true, these files are not all. If you want to enjoy uncensored sex cards, you will have to download another package. Go to step 3 to learn how!

Step 2B - Steam

Steam FTW? Well yea, but not for modding/ Steam doesn't like modified files, so I made a workwaround for that. Get the extracted uncensor files (12mb) here:

After downloading, open the RAR with eather 7-Zip or WinRAR and extract the "Override" directory to your "The Witcher/Data" directory. If done right, there now should be a "Override" directory in your "The Witcher/Data" directory.

That's all, you are now the owner of a partially uncensored The Witcher game! Partially, I hear you say? That's true, these files are not all. If you want to enjoy uncensored sex cards, you will have to download another package. Go to step 3 to learn how!

Step 3 - Sexscenes

What? A lot of blood and nude models ain't enough for you? In that case, you will need the uncensored sex card videos (280mb) as well for the full experience:

After downloading, open the RAR and extract all BIK files to to your "The Witcher/Data" directory.

Final notes

Now you really are in posession of the fully uncensored The Witcher game! Go get some boobies... eh... drowners!

A little note about the extracted uncensore files. These are not just for the Steam release, they will also work for people who have a feeling that (for reason) the game doesn't get uncensored. Just follow the instructions and it should be fine.

For the interested people: Proof!

I can assure you the 11mb RAR (which actually holds a 50mb file) and the 280mb RAR (which holds the BIK-files) contains all you need to uncensor the game.

You could extract the BIF file with the KEY file yourself with BIFRip

Points of interest (after extracting) would be:
dds/cr_naked3_c1.dds (Dryad texture)
dds/sp_sex_*.dss (Sexcards, where * is any name)

Next there is 2da/attackeffects.2da and which holds the blood configurations and some other files.

The localized00.bif and localized.key is the same in every game of the Witcher, except for the American release, due to it being censored. Basically, the localized files hold the stuff ESRB used to censor the game, it doesn't hold models or anything of that kind, just textures and the blood scripts. The mesh kind of stuff is located in meshes00.bif.
