Monsters are a constant danger for our men working as lumberjacks deep in the wetlands and bogs surrounding the cities and villages of Temuria. Likewise for those who live and work in these same areas: the brickmakers, fishermen, and other hard working people that make up the backbone of this land. But until recently, this threat was limited to those who's travels or professions took deep into the areas where drowners, bloedzugers, kikimores, and other horrors dwell. Not so long ago, you could sleep at night, knowing that you and your children were safe from these dangers, protected by the city walls and the soldiers that your hard earned tax money paid for.
Not any more. Drowners and even Drowned Dead have been sighted in the sewers beneath our city. Kikimores and rabid dogs are a hazard for anyone still out on the city streets after sundown. And while they have so far been kept out of the upper class neighborhoods, Fletchers and worse regularly roam the slums and immigrant neighborhoods of Vizima at night.
Starting this month, our dedicated field reporters will be reporting on the monster infestation. We will tell you what they are, where they come from, and what is or is not being done about them by our government, our local citizens, and others.

Drowners: What’s Really Going On
Time and again, if you ask people, where do drowners come from, they will tell you that they are the result of criminals who's bodies were thrown in the water, allowing them to return to wreak vengeance and destruction on any who dares the shores of the lakes and rivers at night. They will tell you that the drowned dead are even worse, they are the worst of the criminals, the murderers and rapists, and because of their crimes, cannot stay dead, but will join with their fellows to stalk the living.
This is what we have been told, and led to believe. But we ask you, have you noted how MANY drowners inhabit this area alone? Are there really THAT MANY criminals among us? Or is something else going on?
Our reporters have found the truth: Drowners and Drowned Dead are not, as popular imagination would have it, the walking corpses of criminals and other societal rejects that drowned. Instead, high ranking government officials have revealed a vast coverup: they are the disastrous result of deliberate experiments performed on our population by sorcerers and alchemists secretly in the employ of our military leaders.
